The Tarry House provides services to adult men and women residing in Summit County who have severe mental illness. Services are provided based on person-centered goals set in their Individual Recovery Service Plan. Tarry House believes all people have the right to be independent and autonomous. It is our privilege and responsibility to provide the best services possible to prepare people for an independent and quality life in the community.

Recognizes that all people served have the right to be as independent and autonomous as possible. Tarry House focuses on working with the individual toward personal recovery goals. It is our privilege and responsibility to provide the best services possible to prepare persons for the greatest amount of independence in the community
Our History
Tarry House has been serving adults with mental illness for over fifty years. Tarry House began as a project of the Summit Service League in 1967 to provide a half-way house for adults being discharged from institutions during the new age of deinstitutionalization. The Tarry House Women’s Board continued to raise funds and guide the program until 1969 when the charter of the Board of Trustees was established.

Our Services
16-bed transitional residential treatment program.
12-bed short-term Residential Respite Program primarily serving people who are homeless.
11 units of HUD 811 permanent supported housing.
24-hour services and supervision
Medication monitoring in the treatment home.
In the residential programs some skill building and other programming including the following emphasis:
Daily living skills enhancement and assistance
Social and recreational activities
Community resources education
Coping skills
Budgeting
Travel training
Physical fitness
Nutrition education programs
Recovery management training and support
